Hosting

The hosting service of the e-Science infrastructure DARIAH-DE provides virtual maschines. These virtual maschines are particularly suited for the needs of humanities and cultural studies. The hosting of virtual maschines at DARIAH-DE is comparable with wellknown commercial cloud services. Here the computing and data service centers associated with DARIAH-DE provide their long lasting experiences.

The provisioning of virtual maschines (VMs) in DARIAH-DE comprises:

• Access to VMs with preinstalled and configured operating system
• VMs for testing as well as production services
• High-end resources (computing power, memory, network)
• Basic configuration of the systems (firewall, etc.)
• Integration into the DARIAH-DE monitoring
• Backup of file systems

The underlying infrastructure is provided by one of Germany's leading data and computing centers:

• Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbh Göttingen (GWDG)
