The Impactomatrix provides an overview of various criteria and factors that contribute to the impact of projects in the Digital Humanities. It provides a means to define measures for the success of projects and virtual research environments. The Impactomatrix was developed within the context of DARIAH-DE and is now managed by the Impact Factors and Success Criteria Working Group.
The Impactomatrix can be used as an aid for the evaluation of projects. Firstly, it can be used to determine in which field changes should be made. Using the factors and criteria collected for this field, own metrics can be set up, which should be reviewed before and after the implementation of a measure intended to increase impact. In this way, project-specific key performance indicators can be collected. It remains to be discussed to what extent these metrics can subsequently be applied to similar projects.
