Concept of training materials
By the provided training material, the learners can determine the time, intervals, pace and location of their learning activities themselves.
Within the scope of the offer, the didactic basic idea of teaching material is passed on in a digital structure. These include e.g.
- Definition of learning objectives and skills to be acquired.
- Elements of classical phase formation for teaching / learning processes.
- Different social forms (different forms of individual and group work).
- Provision of exercises as well as exercise material and examples for each phase.
Both DARIAH produced (video) materials and material from external sources are developed and presented in a database in the form of references.
Preparation and classification
A number of categories were used to make the training materials easier to find, according to which this material was classified as precisely as possible.
Didactic preparation
In addition to didactic material, such as video tutorials on specific topics, the material of the training material also contains material which has been interesting for didactic training in the digital spiritual sciences. The documentation of the DigiVoy tool, which was developed from a cooperation with TextGrid, is the result of a collaboration with TextGrid, Could be added to the database, but was classified as an infomaterial.
Other classification
A further classification of the materials takes place through the following categories:
Medium
The following types of media were identified for the existing training material:
- Text - for text-based training material, mostly as a PDF.
- Video - for training videos and tutorials, which are mostly hosted on external platforms like YouTube and are available for export to different formats.
- Mix - for training material consisting of different media types, e.g. Text-based description of the learning units together with sample files and individual videos.
- Website - this category has been chosen for training material which has been specially prepared for specially designed websites and which is presented there using the appropriate web technology (nonlinear structure with application examples, usually dynamic exercises).
Curricular classification
Within the framework of the first DARIAH-DE funding, a sectoral classification was carried out according to real existing courses at German-speaking universities, which resulted in a number of categories. These categories were assigned to the training materials, so that a corresponding filtering is also possible here.

TaDiRAH Taxonomy
With the aim of structuring all contents concerning the study and teaching of the DH, a taxonomy was developed in DARIAH. The DARIAH training material is structured according to the classes of activities listed there.
The following categories are assigned to the individual materials:
- Capture
- Creation
- Enrichment
- Analysis
- Interpretation
- Dissemination
- Storage
- Collaboration
- Digital Humanities Generally
According to the possibilities of a (polyhierarchic) ??taxonomy, it has been ensured that aresource can belong to up to three different categories, so that individual materials are frequently assigned to 2 or 3 categories.
Languages
Currently, only German and English-language resources are in the collection. An extension to, for example, French-speaking resources is possible.
Further development and support of the training material
The preparation and collection of the DH training material is in continuous construction, whereby we gladly receive your notes for further training material.
All training materials created within the framework of DARIAH are subject to the Creative Commons License CC-BY, which allows a free, further use under the naming of the originator. External materials are But are nevertheless listed as a link in the context of usual referral practices in the network due to their relevance.
We are pleased with the use of our materials. For questions and suggestions concerning the development and thematic orientation of training materials, please contact info@de.dariah.eu
